Catholic Charities is the primary social service agency of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, serving all, regardless of religious affiliation, at their time of great need.
Relying on God's providence and embracing the call of the Gospel and the social teachings of the church, Catholic Charities is dedicated to championing the dignity of the person, improving quality of life, and advocating for the social good of the family so that the poor and the vulnerable, always welcomed and loved, embrace opportunities necessary to realize their potential.
Founded in 1910 to provide assistance to immigrants new to the Pittsburgh area, Catholic Charities now serves the human needs of individuals and families throughout the counties in the Diocese of Pittsburgh: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Lawrence, and Washington.
We strive to improve our clients' quality of life through the provision of tangible items; utility assistance; housing assistance; free medical and dental care; support for troubled families; job development training; education and care for young mothers and their babies; and assistance for older persons and those caring for them. The core programs of Catholic Charities include:
Safety Net and Stability Services
Free Health Care Center
Housing and Homeless Services
Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services
