Free Health Care Center
9th Annual Golf Classic
Responding to a growing need for primary health care for the region's working uninsured and underinsured, Catholic Charities opened the doors to the Free Health Care Center in November 2007. Generous support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the foundation community, corporations, and individual donors funded the construction and initial operation of the Center.
Established as a Volunteers in Medicine facility, Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center recruited volunteer medical and dental professionals who quickly responded to the call to serve and were eager to give back to their neighbors in need. The demand for services and the abundance of skilled healthcare volunteers made it possible for the Center to expand operations from three to five days a week within the first three months of operation.
Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center relies on donations of cash, supplies and volunteer time to sustain operations. Essential program costs are funded entirely through foundations, grants and donations from individuals.
